The AMK Ranch Research Program
The Teton Lab provide opportunities for researchers to spend the summer at the University of Wyoming-National Park Service (UW-NPS) Research Station in Grand Teton National Park. They conduct field work for research on topics related to environmental risk, preferences, and valuation.

Recent projects include:
  • Cherry, Todd L., Chandler Hubbard, and Lynne Lewis. "The peril of popularity: Celebrity wildlife leads to risky behavior?", published in Park Science, August 2025.
  • Brimley, Peri, Todd L. Cherry, and John Whitehead. "Using stated-preference modeling to estimate demand for species-specific recreation in Grand Teton National Park, under review.
  • Lubsen, Connor, Caleb Hill, Katie Tenney, Todd Cherry, and John Whitehead. "Anthropogenic noise in natural areas: Behavioral responses and welfare implications, in progress.

More about AMK Ranch:
The station is centrally located in Grand Teton National Park just north of Leek’s Marina, on Jackson Lake, about 1 hour north of Jackson, WY and 20 minutes south of Yellowstone National Park.

The station has housing and a large lecture room in the Berol lodge along with a neighboring conference room. Basic lab facilities as well as canoes, kayaks, and use of a Pelican research boat are all available to station guests.

It is one of only 9 field stations in US National Parks and by far the oldest partnership of this kind. In 2018, UW and NPS celebrated 65 years of cooperation in Grand Teton National Park.
